11/3/17-11/6/17 Luray KOA, Luray Virginia

November 7, 2017

I previously wrote that Shenandoah River SP was the most idyllic setting. Correct that. The Luray KOA campground is literally surrounded by a farm in the center of the Shenandoah Valley so you can see across the open fields in every direction to the Shenandoah State Park mountains to the east and the George Washington National Forest mountains to the west. Most farms here seem to be cattle. Small herds on medium to large fields. On the negative side of the KOA, the wi-fi is not usable and the bathrooms while clean and modern are way too inadequate for the park. There are some amazing pull-thru campsites here that are in parallel to the farm fence. These sites have a little patio, Adirondack  chairs, and a grill. You can sit at the site opposite us and watch the sunrise hit the mountain tops and the sun set over the same mountains. We see the same view between the trailers which are spaced fairly well, or a walk of 50 feet.
